Frequently Asked Question

Who is selected to provide a blood sample?

The ABC Study is asking about 10 – 20% of people taking part to provide a blood sample, as an additional part of the study. These people have at least one close relative with cancer.

We are asking for a blood sample, in addition to a saliva sample, as there are a number of components in blood that are not found in saliva, such as proteins, serum, vitamins, fatty acids, and hormones.  These will give us additional information, providing a better understanding of the development of cancer and other chronic diseases.

Thanks to all who have supplied this additional sample.

For more information about the blood sample please visit the Blood Sample page.
