Introducing Melanie Evans

Melanie Evans started as the new Unit Leader, Research Coordination within the Cancer Epidemiology Division at Cancer Council Victoria in March 2023. In this role she is responsible for overseeing activities involved in participant recruitment, study conduct, records management and active and passive participant follow-up for the CED research platforms, including its flagship resource, the ABC Study.

Melanie Evans

Melanie has over 15 years of experience working in cancer research in Australia and the UK. In 2016, she completed a Master of Public Health with a specialisation in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Melanie joins us after working at Monash University for 7 years on the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry, a clinical quality registry that monitored the diagnosis and treatment outcomes of men diagnoses with prostate cancer.  Melanie managed the day-to-day operations of the registry including the collection of clinical data about the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer and patient reported outcome measures. She is looking forward to the challenge of managing a large-scale cohort study and working with the ABC Study investigators and the ABC Study Team to ensure that we continue to collect high quality data that informs the research that the Cancer Council Victoria produces.

Acknowledgement of Dr Fiona Bruinsma

In December 2022, Dr Fiona Bruinsma left Cancer Council Victoria to take up a new position at the Burnet Institute in Melbourne. We would like to thank Fiona for all her hard work on the ABC Study since it began.
